Enjoy from my personal collection of NCAA Tournament games. I don't remember much from these set of games as I was attending my buddy's high school basketball game, as mentioned in the post below. At the time i was not a big fan of Purdue or Texas basketball. I do remember driving around after my friend's high school team lost in the state playoffs, listening to the radio and hearing that Tulsa was absolutely killing College of Charleston in the first round. Anyways, we ended up going to the house of our friend who had just lost in the state playoffs and watched the end of the Ole Miss and Villanova game. I remember then getting home and checking my VCR to make sure the games recorded. I was shocked to learn that on this night that Kentucky defeated Lou Henson's New Mexico State, a high school recruit who was going to the Wildcats named John Stewart died of cardiac arrest during a playoff game in Indiana. I highly suggest you watch the end of this video as Kentucky Head Coach Tubby Smith discusses the death of Stewart. It was quite emotional and shocking, though I gained a lot of respect for the class and empathy Smith showed during this moment. I have also included a video about Stewart's life. For some context, Stewart played at Lawrence North School in Indianapolis, the same high school that produced Eric Montross, Greg Oden and Mike Conley Jr. Comments are closed.
