Enjoy the 2001 NCAA Tournament Selection Show, courtesy of the great YouTube channel run by Keith Olenik. I thought I had uploaded this Selection Show to YouTube, but I am not seeing it in my playlists. Oh well! I remember this Selection Show quite well as Illinois earned the fourth and final number-one seed. I was so pumped to see the Illini get a one-seed, though I was worried about Arizona lurking as the two-seed. Of course, Arizona would beat Illinois during the Elite Eight, but that will be discussed another day. I was back home from the U-of-I, on spring break, at my folks' house in Chicago. I remember going out to eat dinner at an Italian restaurant nearby when the Selection Show came on. I immediately got up from my seat and walked toward the bar to watch it. I remember there being this Italian guy, who could have been cast on "The Sopranos," sitting at the bar and talking on his cellphone. He essentially said something to the effect of, "Hey, are you watching the brackets? Did you see Illinois got a one seed?"
