| Arizona State University has announced that it will not be extending Men's Basketball Head Coach Bobby Hurley when his contract expires in June. Hurley coached the Sun Devils for 11 seasons, making the NCAA Tournament three times. During that time, Hurley's brother Dan coached the UCONN Huskies to back-to-back national championships in 2023 and 2024. Bobby Hurley is best known as the starting point guard on Duke's back-to-back 1991 and 1992 NCAA Tournament Champion teams. Bobby Hurley's NCAA Tournament Coaching Career
Hurley' s Sun Devils lost to Syracuse in the First Four in 2018 but beat St. John's in the First Four the following year. However, Arizona State was eliminated in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament by Buffalo, where Hurley was head coach prior to taking the job in Tempe, including an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015. Hurley's 2019-20 squad was expected to participate in the NCAA Tournament before its cancellation due to the pandemic. Arizona State returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2023, beating Nevada in the First Four before losing to TCU in the first round. Whether loved or hated as a player and a coach, Hurley is definitely one of the greatest point guards in NCAA Tournament history and clearly one of the more colorful personalities in the game.
