It's official as Providence guard Stefan Vaaks signed with the Illinois Fighting Illini today.
Vaaks is the only addition for Illinois so far in the transfer portal, with Head Coach Brad Underwood and his staff quickly targeting and getting a commitment from the intriguing guard from Estonia a week after Easter Sunday.
Ultimately, Illinois felt like Vaaks was a better fit than Wisconsin's John Blackwell, and the more I watch Vaaks' game, the more I agree. I am excited to see how the 6'7'' Vaaks performs next season as he is expected to start in the backcourt with incoming freshman five-star Quentin Coleman.
In other news, three Illini have been invited to the NBA Draft Combine, with expected top-10 pick Keaton Wagler and senior Andrej Stojakovic no brainers. Senior guard Kylan Boswell also got an invite after participating in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in mid-April.
