To be one of my all-time favorite Illini players, especially after a single season, one must leave quite a mirk, make that mark, in terms of style of play, on-court impact and enjoyability.
Such has been the case for my 10th favorite Illini of my 30-year-fandom, Montenegrin forward David Mirkovic, who would give my 11th and 9th favorite Illinois men's basketball players, Lucas Johnson and player to be named later, quite a run in terms of personality.
After helping lead Illinois to a Final Four during his freshman season, Mirkovic announced on April 15th that he would be returning to the Illini for a second season. Honestly, I couldn't be more excited to see what is in store with Mirkovic next season, both in terms of productivity and unpredictability.

However Illinois basketball ultimately fares next season, I am pretty certain that Mirkovic will continue to rise on my all-time list with time.
