While I began teaching my fifth-grade students after Labor Day, I was able to stay on top of and catch up with the site for the most part during a busy week in college basketball.

A day after being the first choice for my “Super Squads” of NCAA Tournament teams from the past 20 years, the University of Arizona received great news on Tuesday, when DeAndre Ayton, the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2017, chose the Wildcats instead of Kansas and Kentucky. Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman revealed that star junior Dillon Brooks may miss some games at the beginning of the season following foot surgery. Here is the story and a related video.

On the same night that Shaquille O’Neal, Yao Ming and Allen Iverson were inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, Michigan State’s Tom Izzo was deservedly inducted as well on Friday. Here is the video of Izzo’s speech and some related videos of just some of his greatest NCAA Tournament feats.

There are so many beautiful and wonderful memories of the highlights of numerous basketball players. Each of them has their own stories to tell and most of them inspire a lot of young aspiring basketball players. I was inspired by the story of Shaquille O'Neal. He was the one who inspired me to continue my dream of being a professional basketball player. He showed strength, courage, and skills while he was still playing on the court. He still inspires me even though he is already retired because he pursued his studies and made sure that his family will have a great life.
